Hopefully the right picture with some evidence that 1000/100 exists 😀

SECC1 is much nicer….

Agreed, but as to my records, only a 450 Pentium !!! is made in SECC1 ... All others are SECC-2 ...

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

There were two S-Spec codes for the Pentium 3 1000/100/256 CPUs
SL4KL and SL4BR.

I had a pair of them I got for my P6DGU motherboard but I sold them a very long time ago because the prices were so high. I swapped them out for some 600s.

I never saw a 1GHz/100 at all, I've only seen their existence on the Intel site which *used* to have a conveniently searchable database of all their CPUs.

They do exist - I have one, I got from some scrap lot ... will post an image later - can't get that to work from my phone for some reason ...

About 10 years ago was about 100 or so selling for a fair price on ebay, caused quite the stir here in vogons.
Stupidly I didn't get one as purchased mine also on ebay for £16.00 the year before and didn't think I'd ever need another.

Also regret passing on the cheap Vortex 2 cards and NEC XR385 Midi boards from around the same time. Which is why when opportunities come up I always take advantage of them now.

I have checked, i already have a PIII 500 Slot1. I have to look for something faster on ebay…

Since is my “the fastest” ISA-DOS machine (P4 i think will be windows/only) PIII 500 will be fast enough or i spend money for somerhing like PIII 800?

I find P3 600Mhz is fast enough for almost all my Win9x games, so yeh 500Mhz is plenty for dos

That's a great CPU to have handy for Slot-1 boards. I wasn't meaning to imply they don't exist, just that they're rare.

I must have missed that. A 1GHz/100 would have been handy when I was running a Slot-1 file server - Gigabit ethernet is CPU demanding and I recall it getting throttled somewhat by the 600MHz I used.
The server board I was using was incredibly picky about CPUs and I could never got it to work with a slocket.

I also regret those MIDI boards, I think I was just starting to visit the forum when that came up. For whatever reason I didn't buy one - I guess it's easier to pass on stuff when you aren't anticipating how less available it will be in the future.
