Was there any way to tell if one of the Toshiba T4400 series had a gas plasma without turning it on? Every unit that on Ebay is parts only so they don't know if they have a gas plasma or not. I'm guessing the model number would be different but maybe also the power consumption? I know the lcd version uses 1.9A.

You should probably check the unit's powersupply first, to ensure it's producing correct backlight power.
