Have somebody this old server ? then i have interest to buy it .
In netherlands i can nothing find .
On ebay totally insane prices for shipping and mostly they dont ship it .
I want to learn old servers like the ibm . But now the problem is where i can find a ibm as 400 system ?
Here is a pic from that system https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi ... 04_(2).jpg

We had two monstrous AS/400s back in the early 2000s at Wedgwood. Aside from being gigantic, and power hungry, and a faff to maintain, you might as well get the most modern iteration of the Power5 or Power6 iseries you can. The OS is all but identical if your intention is to actually “learn” the platform.

Did you also ask on tweakers? I recall seeing someone there asking for an as400 machine not so long ago.

I have one, it uses twinax to connect the terminals and the terminals are also rare and without a terminal there's not much you can do with it. even though it does have ethernet (10Mbit) and you can connect to it (I think) with telnet.
The only user I was able to log in with was the printer operator, (If I recall correctly) and you can't do a lot with just that.

Getting the software to do a reinstall also seems pretty impossible .

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

I don't know If or when I will get rid of it. I can give you more photos of the machine.
Even found an interface card for it, though I haven't gotten round to test the card. I noticed it got damaged, had a little bump on a corner. so no idea if it's still working.
Came with an 8" floppy. Photos are here https://imgur.com/a/iYMyjq2

Also, buying and selling isn't allowed on vogons.

Nobody are willing to sell a computer . Why?

Read the rules of this forum. Vogons is not a marketplace.
There's plenty to learn about the AS/400 in books and on the net.
