Hello all,

I have an Asus PVI-486SP3 (v 1.21) which I recently got from a second-hand shop: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/asus-pvi-486sp3#docs
I want to upgrade it to 64MB of RAM (FPM) so I took a pair of 32-MB Mitsubishi M5M4V16400CTP sticks I had around. The board starts fine but it only recognises 16MB instead of 64MB....the sticks have 16x2MB chips on them (8 on each side).

The manual states that these configuration is supported:

So I guess I have too many memory chips on my sticks and the chipset can't address them all, right?

Searching a Nexgen Nx586 with FPU, PM me if you have one. I have some Athlon MP systems and cookies.

RAM sellers state that M5M4V16400CTP chips explicitly warn that those modules require 4k-Refresh.
I'm not an expert on that but probably these chips/modules are incompatible to the ASUS PVI-486SP3.

I'm not sure this is the problem, as the modules actually work but only 1/4 of the capacity is detected by the mainboard. But they are clearly "newer" memory chips.
So, does someone have 2 32MB FPM modules around? 😀

Oh I didn't know that! Indeed searching for it shows up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk8uEFpYbBw and I have quite some 32MB EDO modules 😀

Thanks for the tip, I'll put that on my todo list.
