Heya new here
I have a dell dimension 3100c pentium 4 ht 3ghz 2mb cache
It has only 1 sata connector and power connection to 160gb sata drive
And 1 ide/pata connector and molex connected to dvd drive
No floppy drive

Been trying to install win xp 32bit but keep getting stone walled with blue screen of death
It won’t allow me to install to sata.
The system works with ide harddrive with os on it ripped from other computer but leaves me without a dvddrive.

I can’t figure out how to install to the sata drive I have many install versions including the drivers but install won’t pick them up.

According to the manual your chipset doesn't even support AHCI, so it shouldn't really be a driver problem...

The only thing that really comes to my mind is that I do have an Asrock motherboard from give or take those years with broken SATA, wasn't an Intel chipset recalled exactly for that reason? (As well as another one in the sandy bridge era...)

Finally got xp running on this build with the sata harddrive needed to load the sata controllers and piss about with the hdd for the install to finally accept the hdd.

Next challenge is installing win 98 on both computers but boot disks aren’t working on an actual computer but are on PCEM
