Hello!

I know this may sound like a stupid question, and I doubt many people were ever interested in the *lowest* end models of CPUs, so it's possible nobody ever bothered to find out but:

For reasons I want to fit a socket 478 motherboard with the slowest possible CPU (yes, I know I can disable the cache, but I can do that on any CPU, I really mean the slowest).

My IPOX Tech. IP-4GVI83 motherboard has frequency and voltage setting options in the BIOS, so I can underclock the CPU, but what I'm looking for is a CPU with a really low minimum multiplier for the lowest resulting clock possible.

Any hints greatly appreciated.

Well, a Northwood 2.4C (800 fsb/hyperthreading) should be able to underclock down to 1.2. But I can't be sure if it would actually be slower than a 1.4 Willamette .. it would probably run cold as a cucumber, though ..

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

I think he just didn't know cpu-world.
Underclocking could get you deep down, undervolting even more savings on W.

Each his own! 😀
