Hi. I bought a 300GL 6275 last week.

6282-830.jpg

It cames with a Celeron 333 66bus Mendocino and 2x64Mb of RAM PC100, 500g of weight in dust, two hdd of 3gb aaaaand .... AWE64!!!

------------------------------------------------

Actual SPECS:

MB: IBM 440BX (BIOS 07/19/2000)
CPU: Pentium III 550Mhz/512/100/2v (Katmai)
RAM: 2x256Mb PC133 (that runs at 100)
HDD: 40GB IDE
Sound: AWE64 Gold ISA
PSU: Rated 150W
OS: Windows 98SE

TO-DO:

CPU: Looking for the MAX CPU this board can handle
Graphics: FX5500 256Mb PCI and Voodoo3 PCI
Network: 10/100 PCI
OS: Windows 98SE + MSDOS

------------------------------------------------

Motherboard actually has the lastest BIOS (31A) that "officially" has support for 0673h processor's and olders (results show me PII's, Celerons and PIII's Katmai)
+Info http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/commercial_desktop/pdjt31a.txt

So the motherboard works with 66/100Mhz bus. Its a 440BX chipset and the jumpers settings of the MB are not available since a BIOS update "auto adjust PIII" so no necessary.

I looked for slotket's and raised the price last years, less offer and boot lottery with "generic" boards like mine's so I bought for 5$ a Katmai Pentium III 550Mhz 512/100 that runs well.
Assuming that PIII 600/512/100 (Katmai) works perfectly... what happen with 100Mhz Coppermines Slot 1?

Found and bought a Pentium III 800/256/100 that runs at 1.7V. Will my MB can with it? (need help to find my VRM manuals)

New CPU cames from Japan... so min 2 weeks.

In reference a graphics, it has integrated a S3 with 2mb (upto 4mb with SGRAM Sodimm module). Thinks on put a FX5500 PCI and probably a Voodoo3.

Info refered to VRM's of my MB are welcome 😁

IBM 300GL: Pentium III 550 Katmai, 2x256, FX5500 PCI 256Mb @ 305/357, AWE64 Gold, LAN 10/100
IBM Netvista: Pentium IV 3.06, 2x1024, HD3650 AGP

Katami is a 2V processor, but Coppermine is 1.6. Thing is for Win98+DOS 550MHz is enough.

That manual is for 65xx series.. but thanks

Im looking for VRM's manual of my MB to see check if can handle 1.7v CPU's with 100mhz bus

Well, 0.4V doesn't damage your processor for a short amount of time. If the BIOS shows the correct info about CPU, it supports the Coppermine.

Hey Julito, I'm the guy you talked to on ebay 😀 I actually owned one of those exact IBMs at one point, I'm pretty sure I ended up running it with a slotket. This was years ago and prices on some item's were much lower, I think I used a slot-t or some other "fancy" version of adapter that had on board voltage regulation of it's own. The processor you ordered you can just plug in to "try" without worries, the way the voltage selection circuit works is that if the board does not support the value requested by the cpu it will simply not boot

thanks for your replies!

@bertrammatrix do you have a slotket that works on this mobo? specially if i can put a 133 cpu in.

Hi again

Received today 800/100 1.7v .. System post but i cannot continue or enter the BIOS. Says Error 129 system board problem and in manual is something about L1 caché 🙁

CPU is recognised but not usable.. so... there is a way to upgrade my bios microcode?

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

yeah... when i put again the 550 doesnt boot and after a few tries more works again with 550...
maybe try with a slotket...
