Damn, you are so early in the holiday greetings that it irks me 😉 Anyway yeah, we are in the month where Yule is approaching. Other than that, I refrain from wishing people all that Yule and the whole she-bang until the 23. of December, cause then you can "hit" every one with a winter solstice celebration greeting 😀

Uhmmmm.... X-Mass starts with adventus Domini. This year the first day was the 27'th of November.
And I made this post, because December is the X-Mass month.

And you damn well know this, fellow Dane.

Mate, brostenen and I are good . When it comes to our friendly banter. But at the same time, I am very polite, cause we both are aspies, and I try not to make any misunderstandings between us out of common courtesy and all that good stuff 😀

I'm just glad Santa's not taking anyone's Odin this year.

Odin would love that "santa".

🤣, sorry for the mix up, and me messing up the links. And me also writing Odin, instead of crap in quoting your post. What I meant, was that Odin would seriously love that "santa" and me linking to Grimfrost whom explains Yule and the connection to the winter solstice celebrations, and originally it was not saint Nicolaus. But some one pagan 😀

Yay.... As long as we point out that it was just a tease. Then it is all right. 😁 😁
I have actually already bought most of the gifts. Have gotten some nice stuff for people.
Including a orchide in Lego. And The Jungle Book in original language.

Kind of funny how little christianity matters in the Danish jul in modern times.
Yes sure there is Santa, but not all go to church. And we open gifts on the 24'th.
Personally I have not been in church in Jul, since I was around 13 or something.
That would be 1989, but possible as late as 1990.

To me, it is all about making people happy with gifts and then eat as much as I can.

Santa is not christian. That is what the video points out, but since you mentioned your last paragraph. Have you ever heard the old classic Yule rap with Bossen & Bumsen with the song Op Til Jul ?

Anyway good Yule.

Why is saint nicolas not christian? Sure he evolved, but as far as I know saint nicolas is christian.
He should (as far as I remember) have lived in a town that are located in modern Turkey.

Bossen og bumsen? Does not ring a bell, not even the name. Is it from some sort of contemporary pop culture or something?

Well perhaps the bishop Saint Nicholas of Myra whom the catholic church says is the "Yule-man" . Is one thing, but the origin of the jolly old fellow with a beard and all that is so much older, both the Russian father frost, and an ancient Afghan religion, that has many similarities with the Norse mythology has that bearded fellow in it and he gives out gifts (if you checked the video with Yule you will see what I am talking about Odin). So no, "Santa Claus" per se is NOT Christian at all. The Catholic church took saturnalia , and the Viking Yule, and called it "Christ-mass". There is nothing Christian about the winter solstice at all. Sorry to burst your bubble mate 😀

Last year, I looked up the ancient Afghanistan stuff, and found a great video about ancient Afghanistan, and that video had the stuff about the ancient Afghan religion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipwWXY-ig08 , but if you are not interested in the MANY similarities, if you want to only hear about the bearded fellow. Then go to 24 minutes and 39 seconds of the video. But the whole video is great. About the similarities, if not parallels to the Celtic and Norse mythology. Inlcuding the world creation in the Norse mythology and the Afghan . So enjoy 😀

The Home computer market would not be what it is without Christmas season sales.
This is definitely the time of year when most home computers and components are sold.
Just look at all the Black Friday , Cyber Monday, Christmas sales, etc.
Sale after Sale.
This is time of year everyone in America(s) saves their MONEY for.
The Christmas season sales.

In America I think this is becoming the time of year when people upgrade and replace their home computers.

That is exactly what I mean about the christian santa, evolved into what we know today. The base is Saint Nicholas, but have been added local tradition and belief, in order to be what santa is today. The society is after all, based on christianity in one way or the other. Personally it rejoyce me, that we are going back to older times. Kind of becomming more norse in the way we conduct jul. Personally I dislike the term Yule, but prefer the term jul. Jul is all about eating and making children happy. Nothing more or less.
