Welcome to stepper motor-based HDDs.

I like how this IBM drive sounds (not sure if it's a stepper, though).

My Tandy 1000 SX system's 20 MB WD HDD produced two different high-pitched beeping sounds when it was accessed. ;)

I have a couple of the weirdest drives ever ST351A/X http://www.redhill.net.au/d/16.php
They are 40MB (yes MB), stepper motor with autopark, using a rather modern 3 zoned density.

The differences between stepper and voice coil (essentially the way a speaker cone moves).

Stepper has a series of absolute detent positions, tracking is fixed.
Voice coil is a variable drive, tracking is dynamic, following the factory low level format.

Stepper, for much of its history, did not have autopark.
For voice coil, autopark is standard, AFAIK either by return spring, or by direct drive using spindown back emf to power the actuator.

Voice coil is faster, the mechanism being lighter, and also quieter due to the lack of the "zip" of the pulsed stepping - but can still chatter if performing rapid seeks
