Anyone from Kansas City Area?
Anyone from Kansas City Area?
Why?
while it's against the rules give stuff away on this forum it isn't against the rules to give stuff away via some other communication client or in real life.
I thought it was just against the rules to trade/buy/sell.
Are you trying to organize a meetup of some kind?
World's foremost 486 enjoyer.
I don't see why one can't give away things in the site. I seen others do it and so have I.
And a local meat up would be cool. I think that would be something I could be behind in my area.
Anyone in western washington want a free compaq P2 , a free Dell Dimension 4100, and a free Pentium Acer AT machine pm me.
Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.

Not in KC, but I am a few hours south of there. However, I'm also in a position where I'm trying to downsize my retro collection. I have lots of Win95-WinXP era stuff I want to find loving homes for. I'm more into DOS-era stuff. (PMs welcome)

i have some XP and 95 era as also some 386/486. not sure what i want curb/reduce but, i do have have Power MAc G5 guts form working G5, that's sitting on the floor and would like to give away before i accidently trip over it. I do also have a pile of AGP cards i definitely want to give away and some Power PC mac minis and an old set of 2.1 speakers still in their original box.
I wonder if there are retro gaming cons? I know there are at least a small few.
There are retro computing conventions. But nowhere near us. It's basically only for people in New York or san francisco. One of the cons of living in a fly-over state.
next one is at the end of this month, in NJ.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
We could always make a facebook swap, just for vogoneers and only add people that have vogons accounts.

That's not a bad idea. I thought about doing the same on overclock.net as there a few retro PC gamers on there already, some buying and selling. the con is you must X amount rep on OCN to use the buy, sell, trade section, or at least to sell on it. Same with HardForum but, i've been able to buy via DM/PM.

Facebook? You will not see me there.
We really need a good site dedicated to just trading old pc parts. For sale sections in forums are nice and all. But we need a site like amibay that works for old pc parts.
^Well we just need to find someone that can build a site. There free hosting sites out there.

I know how to build a internet forum using off the self tools. Maybe I'll make a site in my free time. I don't have much anything planed after I'm done getting my dual piii-s system done.
But I don't like the idea of making it a forum, but it works for amibay.
Not sure exactly who in this thread I'm talking to here but: I appreciate that you're trying to form whatever you're trying to form out of VOGONS members, but please don't name your creation based off of the word "VOGONS" or "VOGON", thanks.

Perhaps we shall call the trading site, "retro enthusiasts who amy or may not be members of certain guide to the galaxy themed forums and other suth retro gaming related forums.com" 🤣 Racket boy forums could be another options. if anyone is intereted in contracting me outside fo the forum feel free to hit me up at my forum username @ yahoo

Ok ok, lets be respectful here. No need to name it after vogons.
I wouldn't mind if there was the option (or rule?) that no money is exchanged. In other words, I could either give my unneeded retro gear away to someone who wants it, or I could trade it for something I do want that they wouldn't mind parting with. The only tangle with that is shipping costs. If this was all local, no problem. But people will want to participate even if they are beyond driving distances.

That's been my quandary i can't really afford to give it away, the G5 parts ...well it that would require a big, box lots packing materials and time. the occasional small item might not be so bad if the $5 shipping was split. lots of video cards though that would add up quick. The poor 5 mobo and guts amy end up in a scrap pile but, i know i can list mobos and cards on oc.net for merely the shipping costs.
