The new site should be functional without javascript (at least the important bits).
It does allow for some choice in theme and font sizes. (but no light/dark choices, nor free choice as the 2 themes are custom matching with the extensions we added)
It is mobile friendly.
the last post button is huge (and at the front again, as it was in the past).
Contrast is a lot higher.

I don't know of IE 3 works with it. I don't have it installed..

I'm really looking forward to it. Currently browsing the forum at 3x zoom and no, I'm not 80 years old (yet). 🤣

Damn, I guess it's too much to hope for some wild use of marquee elements.

Please don't go with that modern "blindingly white" color scheme.

My poor eyes hurt just thinking about it.

I sure hope that's not the case. Color schemes theses days are poorly picked at best these days.
Saidly looking at the post below it seems like this site is going the way off most bigger forums and other main stream site's. I'll definitely be waiting for the new site to drop, but with every staff post it's looking worse and worse.
That teaser photo on page one makes me want to poke my eyes out.

^^ you've been on here for like, a month. Why are you so invested in the current layout? The "teaser" on page 1 is an old joke that someone put together years ago.

Personally I think a bit of a refresh is long warranted, and as long as I don't have to squint at black text on a blindingly white background, I'll be happy. This forum software is ancient & it'll be nice to have some more modern features around here (like inline image resizing and better scaling.)

To ease the shock: it will look different.

But hopefully still kinda the same. Please don't go completely "Web 2.0" on us!

Web 2.0 is fine, sneak peek:

I know it's a joke (I also fell for it some months ago) and chuckled seeing this picture again, but it still looked pretty good if it were going to be true. It's quite possible to do that with the very old HTML/CSS standards, FYI. *devil face*

Thanks in advance. It's the community that I come here for, not the looks. It will be fine. 😀

I suppose it was inevitable that the software would have to be updated sooner or later. Too bad, the current site loads in 3 seconds with javascript active. The preview looks like any other modern forum I've been to, complete with social media trackers, massive amounts of javascript dependence and CSS-arrhea. That "Loading more forums" is triggered when you scroll down a page which means you get nothing if JS is disabled. Guess we'll have to wait and see if I have to start using NoScript/Ghostery/Ublock on the new site.

One day I will make a real version of this funny layout design... give me one month of vacation from my work and I will come up with something similar in one week hahahahaha

I'll help you out so we can shorten the timeframe! 🤣

Just make sure there are burger menus on the desktop view. Yes, multiple ones.

Also, the reply button should be extra small. People will be furious!

HAHAHAHA, sure! We will have lots of fancy gradient buttons. And I can disable the zooming easily, so they will be extra furious. *Evil laugh*

Good luck with the upgrade. I hope most of us consider it to be an upgrade, but I suppose we will not know until we see it.

Is there any chance you can run the change in parallel?
