Hmm, didn't expect any console or Windows store stuff in this thread..... Think when I consolidate all back to the first post I'd like to clarify platform and DRM status. Yeah it's free $$ wise but tied to a specific platform or service.

You started a great thing nine and a half years ago! and its still going strong but times change, things evolve and DRM is a necessary evil. As your tag implies, many games are DOS games but under different platforms. This Lemmings game originally DOS, TOTALLY sounds off, more like awful, to me but not my 11yr old daughter. She has her own Windows 10 PC. Now she has a classic strategy game that I didn't have to pay for and she enjoys. I don't need to bother with DOSBox or ScummVM. I myself will always play it with the original music and graphics under DOSBox or my retro PC because it just seems sacrilege to do otherwise.

I'm not wanting to start a debate on platform or drm, this is not the place to do so. I just want to say thank you.

Cute little game. I already had it and finished it a couple years ago. Worth playing.

This is a version that packages the first three Deponia games into one install.

Enderal Forgotten Stories
https://store.steampowered.com/app/933480/End … gotten_Stories/

Free on Steam if you own skyrim

To use without Steam use Steamless on TESV.EXE

Since it's not the Special Edition of Skyrim then it should work on XP.

I am finishing building my Umtimate Win98 PC.
It has IE-6 and internet access and USB port.
When I try to visit some of these websites the browser does not support them. So I can always use my Win-10 computer and save to flash drive.

What are some must have games for Win98se ?

I have a K6-3-500mhz CPU and 256mb ram.
Voodoo-3 APG graphics card.
Sound Blaster AWE 64.

I am posting from it right now.

Neat. I use my Socket 370 machine some days, and I'm currently working on my Socket 754 build (FIC K8M-800M board) to run Windows 98SE on it with Sound Blaster Live! 5.1, GeForce 6200 (might go with the Radeon 9600XT or GeForce2 MX400 cards sometime if I want to), USB 2.0 ports, integrated Ethernet, a 30GB HDD to run Windows 98SE on it, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, and a 3.5" floppy drive.

Yeah, List of free games...WTH!

But I can't not help...
Go check out PhilsComputerLab on YouTube, watch his older videos on the Voodoo 3, AWE cards, and he did some nice ones on K6 CPUs (so I'm jealous not owning one myself). His benchmarks will give you some great game ideas and a little info too. Next, check out LGR for entertaining reviews. Also, hit up thrift shops for old games for like $1-$2. I mostly find them in jewel cases mixed in with audio CDs. Even if they don't look interesting, if they fall within your specs they might be fun. Even if they just plain suck, it will be fun finding that out on your own. You can then donate the game back a thrift shop as their sales usually help the community (Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.). And you can get a SB Live! cheaply in there for your strictly Windows games.

NOW KEEP THESE TOPICS OFF THIS FORUM!
(totally not being a jerk, have fun!)

Had to jump through a few hoops for this one. To get the free copy of The Witcher you have to install Gwent - a free to play card game, which requires GOG Galaxy.
I'm quite curious about this series, so the free copy was worth the hurdles for me.

It seems an RTX card is not actually required. From what I can tell, you can disable "RTX" in the game and then it's just good old Quake 2?

It's a demo yes but if you have the original Quake II then its a full game. You have to add the original Q2 data files. You also need an Nvidia RTX card to fully enjoy it as it was intended for RTX card owners but any card *should* work. After looking at the comments on Steam, it doesn't work that great using ray tracing. I'll give it a shot later on my RX 580

You can get the stand alone here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/campaigns/quake-II-rtx/

edit: Just tried it, looks like you need a ray tracing gpu as it says but apparently it can be played with a 10xx series?. I wonder if that will rule out AMD ray tracing cards when they come (Navi?).

It won't work well on anything that doesn't support ray tracing with hardware support. This game is the real deal full path tracing not tricks like other RTX games so far so nothing older than a 2070+ is going to do this any justice.
