Does anyone have recommendations for a good USB optical drive? I'm especially looking for one that won't make a lot of noise when it spins up.

I suggets you a IDE USB Stack as my one, then you just need to have and HD/DVD/CD IDE Drive. 😉

Buy a IDE CD/DVD drive(as i"ve done). 😉
You will see that this is the best option. I saw this when I tried my friends DVD USB Drive and my USB stack that I've bought. The stack was much more useful, because I use it with a HD and a DVD. 😉
Here is my suggestion. Here on Brazil at MercadoLivre(brazilian official eBay), we have a better product, that is a stack that it's designed for this.
