Heh, I remember I first came here when I had difficulty running old games like Fifa 96. That was in 2005 or 2006 , but I registered at least a year later. I first tried DOSBox in November or December 2005 (0.63) and although it was slow as hell back then, crashed a lot, didn't support half the games it does now, but it was still awesome. Getting old DOS games running on Windows back then was a very difficult task quite a lot of times, but when DOSBox arrived, problems started fading away. It may seem like simple stuff today, but that was amazing back 4-5 years ago. Me registering here coincided with me getting my first retro PC. A Cyrix 6x86 166 with 32MB RAM and an S3 Virge. Killer combo.
I learned a lot of great stuff here, I learned all about 3Dfx, software rendering vs hardware rendering, the various APIs of the 90's, wavetable music and the list goes on and on. And with guys like swaaye and his 3D Accelerator comparison and collection of sound card sounds, this place is a paradise. Some of you guys here deserve a medal, I couldn't have been this much into Retro PCs without you. I love this forum 😀
Only think I feel needs some major overhaul is the search system. Finding old posts is a huge hussle!
