Do drivers have copyright? I think you should keep this thing private. Maybe it's a good idea to just PM someone who needs drivers instead of flooding the forum with links. Maybe it's just okay. Just my two cents.

Drivers like any piece of software are copyrighted material BUT since they are used in conjunction with a piece of hardware that actually needs them do not fall in the "do not spread" category... that is why for example you can download ati/nv/intel/amd/etc drivers from thousands of places without anyone caring.

Yes indeed, you said it all.. 😘 Those orginal stuff are very hard to get these days. If no one would share, there wouldnt be vintage computing.. So if i can help people, why not? I dont earn anything on it..

The actual drivers may be free to distribute, but anything else that comes on the discs packed with hardware may not be. Software and games that shipped free with a video or sound card may be owned by someone else and the video card/sound card company may have only had a license limited to a certain amount of time or certain number of copies before it expired and distribution rights returned to the copyright holder so distributing drivers probably won't get you in any trouble but duplicating the entire install disc that may contain works that belong to others might. This is the reason why Apple can only release Mac OS 7.5.5 on their support site but not 7.6.1. 7.6.1 contains code belonging to someone else that was only licensed to Apple for a limited time and they would be violating copyright if they attempted to distribute it today without obtaining a new license.

true but said software is often "tied" to specific hardware or needs a serial number that you get with a manual...

an OS is a different deal though...

I always had this idea of starting a Gravis Ultrasound Drivers section, but since I never used one, I didn't really start it, and don't know where to start. I know these Gravis Ultrasound cards are held very dear to whomever that have used them, so I think it's a good idea to preserve them. Maybe I'll get one Ultrasound Classic someday to hear what's all the hoopla about. 😀

Keropi: This strongly depends on the laws in the country where the person offering the software/drivers lives in.
