Clamsentinel seems right. Downloading it for future use.
I'd just go without AV. AV not only eats RAM but it adds a lot of CPU overhead to many file accesses. Without a dual core you'll definitely feel it. If you want to scan a file, use one of the free online AV sites.
This assumes you are the sole user. Anyone else using it is going to be risky unless they are savvy.
Could also run XP as a standard user. This kills a lot of malware and viruses because they don't get privileges and they tend to assume you are running as an admin like 99% people do.
I am not the user. I do have an antivirus installed in my PC but with real time protection turned off. Better safe than sorry (even if being safe is slower).

Sad thing is, virus today are very rare. The vast majority of malware is now composed of trojans, keyloggers, adware and rootkits.
