I think one of the reasons it was so slow initially was I had it installed on and old 5400 RPM DMA 33 drive. When I changed it to a newer 7200 RPM DMA 66 drive I noticed a BIG difference (and 768 MB of RAM helps a lot too)

When it comes to "help, my computer is too slow" hard drive RPM is completely underrated and ignored. In fact if upgrading a computer I'd probably replace the 5400 RPM hard drive first. Once you have 7200 RPM you never go back.

Yea HDD is the weak spot. Can't wait for SSD to get to a point that it's cheap enough to be considered for our retro projects.
