There's this ESS-based isa card that I don't quite understand WHY it's priced so high.
It has an OPL2 chip so it's supposed to be compatible with AdLib but still.

Probably because it's 8-bit ISA. Finding high quality sound cards that fit an 8-bit slot isn't so easy these days.

I understand that this is a piece of history... but for a right angle connector that's a huge premium. And shipping is still payable! (for those who don't want to click, US$7757 + $10.55 CONUS post for a prototype Mac mouse)

A prototype with serial number 5186? They must have built a lot of prototypes.

I also admire the precision. It's not 7750 or 7800, it's precisely 7757! 🤣

In 1984 Apple released the first Macintosh home computer with a mouse-driven operating system, known as Graphical User Interface (GUI pronounced "gooey")

It cracks me up how ads like this start explaining the most inane things as if it was the 1980s and I was 8 years old and didn't know what a graphical interface was, or how people commonly like to pronounce it.

Not retro gear, or electronic but... yeah...

A naturally formed rock that looks like BBQ pork... can be yours for only $1,255,000 USD.

WTF is wrong with people!? 😒 😵

This may be borderline... But $500 for an SB1.0?! With CT1350's in plenty supply and CMS upgrades being readily reproduceable, I can't imagine any reasonable person would pay this before say a LAPC-I, CM-32L/500, or rare GUS for the same price or less.

Offered something more reasonable.
Counter-offer by the seller : 400$

Still, it's pretty cool with the box and everything. But 400$ for a SB1.0 is a bit too much.

That's a nope from me.

The more sound cards, the better.

Not quite everything! 😵

Considering that the Sound Blaster 1.0 didn't even cost $500 brand new back in 1989, I wouldn't pay $500 now for something that is 26 years old.
I can understand that someone might want to buy one for nostalgic reasons but, from a practical point of view, it simply doesn't justify the price.
There are a lot of alternatives available (later Sound Blaster models and also clones) that supports an original Sound Blaster 1.0.

Looks like that board has been partially recapped, the green caps look original but those blue Rubycons are not. For $600 they could at least finish the job. 😀

I have one of these boards which I nearly ruined when I was learning to solder.
I've occasionally searched for these boards, but they almost never come up and when they do, it's not at a serious price. I think it was a niche product when new and it's covered with so many crap caps that surely 100% of the boards have failed by now. Only the few that got recapped remain. I wouldn't mind finding an untouched example to try putting polymers on it.
It's very similar to the BE6-II really, which for whatever reason seems to be more common.

This Bulgarian guy was very reasonable in the recent past (2013-2014) probably because it was new to the business. He was also a very decent guy, solving it to your advantage when a problem occurs. I purchased many nice items from him, all with reasonable prices, sometimes even with my ridiculous best offers. But it changed into this in late 2014-2015. Now he is asking ridiculous prices for everything he is selling.

Another one of his listings:
