Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me writing a small PHP application for storing and graphing benchmarks?

Some of the features I was thinking off:

- Storing PC Info (CPU, Ram, Motherboard etc)
- Storing Benchmark Programs and a list of the tests (we could build up a shared database).
- Graphing and comparing benchmarks.

I will only write it if there is any interest.

EDIT:

The other option is that I create one big site where everyone has an account that can do the above.

Something like this would be awesome!

However wouldn't using Google Docs work just as well?

I started this 3DBENCH database a while ago, but it was just me adding information into a spreadsheet and uploading it as a PNG file. It got quite tedious after a while...

My website with reviews, demos, drivers, tutorials and more...

Thanks for the reply! Google Docs might work. But you know, it's google :p

The benefit of a PHP app is obviously the auto graphing of benchmarks (I have a license for this http://www.rgraph.net/ ), and I can make it multi user if needed so everyone could have their own account with their computers that they could edit.

I suspect just hosting one version and everyone having accounts might work better. You could then have public and private computers that you store. Like Facebook for computers :p

Here is an app I wrote, I would use a lot of the code from this, so the interface would be very similar:

Here is a basic plan of the database. I need to be careful as I don't want to make this program too big.

+ Computers
CPU (multiple)
Actual Running Speed
Motherboard
RAM (multiple)
Case
HDD (multiple)
Video Card (multiple)
Sound Card
Network Card (multiple)
PSU
CD/DVD (multiple)
Operating System (multiple)

+ Benchmark Applications
Name
Version

+ Benchmark Tests
Name
Resolution
Comment (i.e FSAA, AF etc)

+ Benchmarks
Benchmark Test ID
Computer ID
Value

+ CPU
Manufacturer
Family
Stepping
MHz
FPU Cores
ALU Cores
Bus Speed
Multiplier
Socket

Okay!

It has only taken 18 months but I have a very basic version now online.

I've decided to go with a fully online version as it will be much easier for users to just start using it.

Currently the site is VERY basic. It only supports storing your CPUs at the moment and there is no data sharing between users, but it is a start.

I am using it to store a record of my CPU collection in it.

Another 2 years later and I've just released a pretty major update.

You can now store computers & benchmark results and see them graphed.

There is heaps of work to go. There are some screenshots and todo list on the wiki:

Okay another nice upgrade! You can now add video cards and assign them to your computer.

Still lots more to come in future 😀
