Can the router handle both static and dynamic IPs at the same time?
My brother works in China and when he comes home, he needs to access wifi at home. That's why I set it all to DHCP.

of course you can.... any router allows you to do that
the DHCP pool only has a limited IP range out of the 253 usable IP addresses in your network... you just need to assign a static IP address outside of that range

for example, if your DHCP pool is 192.168.0.100 to 150, you can assign a static IP address anywhere out of that except .0, .1 or .255... .1 is used by the router usually, .0 is the network address, and .255 is the broadcast address... they are reserved, you can't use them

routers usually also allows you to increase the DHCP lease time... typical settings are 12 or 24 hours... no such thing as infinite unless you're doing a static MAC DHCP, which is a completely different thing
