Agreed 100%
If your a member here then you are obviously interested in computers and can even do those things like download torrents, install programs...and watch porn 😉 all without getting infected. No matter what OS is being used or how up to date it is.

Sadly this still isn't true for the average user, that just leave everything as default and always click OK to everything. Its for this reason UAC doesn't work. MS sends a big warning that something is about to change, but people still happily just click OK. but at least its better then nothing for the masses.

Do I think the lack of future updates is overhyped to increase sales, definitely! At work we are already using it to push people of Server 03 and if you expose your server to unnecessary risks then you deserve to get infected. But for the masses I do think people need protecting from themselves

In all honesty I've never ever used any of the integrated downloadable system updates. For many years I was on XP Pro without any service packs (probably up until 2006) until I realised with software requiring the use of things such as c++ and integrated OS abilities that aren't on a non-SP updated system, I needed to upgrade.

I got SP3 when it came out, but since then I've never done any more updates. I've been fine, (although posting such a response on a public forum can prove otherwise from now) 😀 😀
