Just saw a movie Young Ones that used a similar effect to display a robot's parametric recording (as opposed to full video capture).
I liked the notion (MINOR SPOILER) that if you knew what to look for in that output you would see it for what it was.
Tried this on my own oscilloscope the other day and it is pretty neat! Since I had the setup ready, I tried a few other demos such as YouScope (poking fun at YouTube) and had some fun with those as well 😀.
