Hello All. I created this thread to see if anyone can point out any programs, drivers, and patches that will make the lives of people trying to bring back old computers good. So, I will post some useful sites and tips and you guys can comment too. Just don't spam, or give useless information.

Some useful sites: (I will probably add to this later)
1. http://kmeleonbrowser.org/ A browser that is modern(-ish) that runs on 95, 98, 2000, and so on.
2. http://files.mpoli.fi// A site that has A BOATLOAD of driver files for DOS up to 98
3. http://www.oldapps.com/ It has a bunch of older programs, including Flash, Netscape Navigator, and so on.
4. http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/staff/steveb/cpaap/pfe/ A useful text editor for Windows 3.1 up to XP.
5. http://www.georgpotthast.de/sioux/packet.htm A website with a whole bunch of packet drivers for DOS.
As always, have fun 😀

Q: Why didn't Intel call the Pentium the 586?
A: Because they added 486 and 100 on the first Pentium and got 585.999983605.

I think we already have a huge thread along these lines.

http://www.mdgx.com is hugely useful, if somewhat difficult to navigate.

Well, this thread is specifically for older versions of Windows and DOS, so there is no wading through extra stuff that isn't for older versions of Windows.

One of my favorites is this forum: http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/91-windows-9x … ember-projects/
It's not directly related to programs, but it does come with a lot of links and information

There's 98SE2ME that I always liked.

http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/

They show you how to migrate the best features of ME to 98SE so you can have the best of both worlds. Compatibility with later hardware and software standards without breaking DOS compatibility for running older games and applications.
