All the classic Doom monsters are in it with modern graphics. For consoles and PC.

Old news, but thanks. I need to get the hype going again 😀 I remember the Bethesda reveal for Fallout 4, where they also showed Doom. And what thought there was "who gives a f about Fallout; Doom is the highlight of this."

Looks like Doom3 with the lights on. Ugliest hud I've seen in years. Moving on...

Great graphics and all but really not exciting for me. I wasn't even a great fan of the original DOOM. It's undeniable how important and how big DOOM was not just for FPS genre but all gaming industry but its just not immersive for me. The story in DOOM is really not that important when you think about it, nor it is the essential thing that made the game great, but the setting and concept is extremely silly for me. Shooting demons and zombified/posessed humans...meh...beyond silly... Wolfenstein 3D did much more for me despite its bigger limitations.

Operation Flashpoint changed my life as far as shooters go, and if i had to mention my favorite corridor shooter then it would be F.E.A.R. which i found to be extremely immersive.

I totally agree with F.E.A.R. being immersive! 😁
I played through the campaign several times and we even did that coop campaign as a group of friends. Sure, it was buggy as hell (respawning ahead of your latest waypoint just to be killed by masses of enemies till you were lucky enough to spawn further back after having died xyz amount of times..we had a good laugh! 😁).

Another favorite one is still the original Unreal. I also liked Quake a lot but Unreal was more for me. Doom never really appealed a lot to me though (I'm not kidding!) the movie I really enjoyed for what it is!

Doom and Doom II were a couple of my favourite games growing up and I still get a kick out of playing them every so often. :)

This "reboot" looks incredibly underwhelming. At least the small amount of System Shock reboot stuff we've seen so far has been very in-tune with the original.

THIS... looks more like just another game in the series rather than a reboot. I think it may be more appropriate to call it a "reimagining", at least at this stage of development. That said, they've definitely focussed on the tech side of things as usual, making the whole process of shooting and maiming things more "realistic" than ever, but that's not what attracts me to a first person shooter. At the end of the day you can have incredibly impressive visuals, both from an artistic and technical standpoint, and still end up with a boring game.

Have to say I agree with that. I just think the huge emphasis on this kind of dull 'pseudo-realist' scripted gameplay and visuals style is what is more or less taking fun and immersion out of many today's big-budget games. Personally when I play my games I want to feel like I am there and have complete control of what I'm doing and not having a press MOUSE3/RT button kill things for me instead, some Bullet-time slowdown effect every time I want to change items, or overexaggerated use of effects like silhoetting and bloom that almost look bordeline ridiculous in action. (sun in Battlefield 3, among others).

Well, and to be honest, in my case art direction in a way or other does affect how much can I enjoy a game. Definitely I'm not a fan of stuff with desaturated looks that both makes characters blend constantly with the enviroment and make everything look so extremely repetive, unimaginative and generic. 😵 With all due respect, it isn't that I don't appreciate all the huge human workforce behind driving the development of games that are extremely expensive to make, I only get the feeling that there's something missing.

I'm waiting for some real gameplay videos of the final product.

I sort of wish they'd kept going with the original "cinematic" version of Doom 4.

I agree. That E3 2014 teaser was nice and atmospheric. The latest doom 4 footage seems to go for a more multiplayer focused gameplay style which I do not enjoy. I like story/cutscenes/cinematics.

70% of the reviews on Steam are positive so clearly SOME people liked it. :P

This "reboot" is not DOOM. Good or bad, whatever - it's not DOOM.

If I want to watch some slow-motion murder porn, I'll go watch the "Saw" series. Oh, wait. 😜

What I don't like is that it is called Doom. It will be harder to find Doom (1993) related things when it is now unclear what Doom is.
