I would not even consider that a connection. Anything 5 Mbps or less might as well be dial-up these days.

That's mostly how the website have developed over the years. You get ads for income and video stream for news feeds. Also people want their information right this second and only read the important bits and if there's a video that explains the whole thing, all the better so they don't have to read. It's the lazy majority that has ruined news and websites for everyone.
