Too much perspective jank and pixel dithering, not enough paletted matte painting. It's like a weird in between VGA SCI Sierra and EGA Lucasarts
Retro look is mostly used by designers who can't draw well and have problems with portrait features. You can see from the short trailer that all the men and women look alike. It's better to outsource the graphics design to someone who is capable of doing it justice, as is music and game design. Very few people actually have a talent for all three and many potentially great games are lost because of this.
Some of the screens look good and I like the character sprite, but the close ups and portraits are just not well executed at all. Also, the colour palette is... not my thing. Someone really liked faint lilac and mint green.
