Sites will block VPNs they get hack and spam attempts from. So if your chosen one won't work, it's probable it was previously misused.

Interesting. I'd not suspect such from Proton.

I use Proton because it's free with the email account; found it no faster, or slower, than others I've tried. Yesterday this site "timed out waiting for response" twice, I disconnected the vpn and Vogons loaded immediately. Tried again later, same result. Not a major issue, it's simple enough to turn the vpn off/on ....more of an issue for my old V1.0 brain to remember to do so.
