Heh, just gave it a run in W10. Charming. Microsoft have sure dumbed down Explorer over the years, and this does a few things it can't. Like multi-pane viewing! I have long since replaced Windows Explorer with Directory Opus for that reason. (Yep, they're still selling it for modern Windows with great update support.)

One thing I really miss being able to do is create desktop folders like this:

You can create folders on the desktop of course. But when you turn off all the unneeded stuff like nav pane and ribbon, those settings apply globally to Windows Explorer.

That's the updated file manager from WfW 3.11/NT..
The 3.0, OS/2 and 3.1 file manager had the drive icons inside each panel.
WfW and NT moved it below the menu. 😀

They originally released it back in 2019 for Win10 Guess it's been updated for Win11 now which is kind of surprising in a way.

I install it on my work PC's that run Win10, don't actually use it but nice to see it's icon sitting next to notepad reminding me of more simple times...

Classic File Manager is an awesome tool. I never used it on Win 3.x, never used it on Win9x... I think I will install it on all my Win10 PCs, so I can not use it in 2022 as well.

I've never been a fan of File Manager...
but indeed - compared with the modern retardware that by default doesn't even display filename extensions - File Manager seems bearable.
