I am trying to run an application that works on my Windows 11 and Windows 7 machine with Windows 98/ME compatibility. Now I installed Wine and the program is working fine, upto the point which required me to use Windows 98/ME compatibility to run. So can anyone guide me what I should do next on Linux Mint -> Wine to allow that.

WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX="/home/$USER/wine32" winecfg
Select Windows 98 for the Windows version in the GUI window that should open.

After the Wineprefix is created, start your program with the new prefix. Something like:
WINEPREFIX="/home/$USER/wine32" wine start your/program.exe

At an early stage of getting your head round WINE it helps to remember that it doesn't really launch an environment to run your old crap in so much as kinda work as a kludge, patch or wrapper to run your old crap in current environment.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
