I am rechecking the list of them... You forget Wanda for GeForce256.

The girl is a bit scary, but it comes with a few models.

I don't have the demo. I read in a few German and Dutch sites and it exists, but I can't find a file. Could you have the demo for me?

I only have two snaps. Anyway, it came with CDs of Creative and more cards GeForce256 and the early GF2. I am looking for discs in archive. I will advise you if I can get it.

Thanks, got it. This demo also works quite fine. The archived file also has three more demos: Scorpion, Boxster and Firetruck.

Here is Wanda:

For those of us who prefer downloading executables from first-party sources, I found out that the Nvidia and ATI/AMD Radeon demos are surprisingly well-archived in Web Archive.

Nvidia demos:
Page: http://web.archive.org/web/20200921115422/htt … ommunity/demos/
Filelist: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://internati … l_stuff/demos/*
Note: Yes, it includes the Nvidia deleted demos that the original post doesn't have (Dusk, Dusk Ultra, Dawn, Nalu, Luna, Adrianne, Medusa, A New Dawn)

ATI/AMD Radeon demos, part 1 (Radeon 7000 to Radeon HD 2000)
Page: http://web.archive.org/web/20080515205941/htt … oper/demos.html
Filelist 1: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www2.ati. … om/misc/demos/*
Filelist 2: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www2.ati.com/developer/*
Ruby: Whiteout v1.1 direct link: http://web.archive.org/web/20130525022606/htt … iteout-v1.1.msi
Note: Ignore the link for the HD3000 series on the page above, it doesn't work (see part 2 below)
Note: For the HD 2000 demo (Ruby: Whiteout v1.0), the capture taken on 13 May 2008 doesn't work for some reason, please use the capture taken on 11 Sep 2014 instead
Note: There is also an 1.1 version of the Ruby: Whiteout demo that's difficult to find in third-party sites, it can be accessed from the direct link provided above (haven't found a page linking to it)
Note: In the "Apple SmartShader 2.0 Demos & Screen Savers" page, the links to the screensavers are broken, but you can go to Filelist 2 above and filter by the desired screensaver's filename (all of them have beem archived, just under a different url)
Note: With the exception of the issues mentioned above, all the other links were manually tested and they work

ATI/AMD Radeon demos, part 2 (Radeon HD 3000 to Radeon HD 7000)
Page: http://web.archive.org/web/20150905193631/htt … cles/gpu-demos/
Filelist: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://developer … rdpress/media/*
Note: All links work

Matrox G200 demo and Coral Reef patch:
Page (with link G200 demo): http://web.archive.org/web/20031205173215/htt … s_downloads.cfm
Page (with link to Coral Reef patch): http://web.archive.org/web/20230728173506/htt … s/ftp_util2.php
Note: The link to the G400 demo on the first page doesn't work, and I didn't manage to find it in any first-party website captures
Note: Couldn't find any link to the Coral Reef demo, only for a patch ("upgrade") that solves some driver compatibility issues.

A real cool thing would be a compatibility matrix where it's listed what techdemo runs on other than the promoted platforms.
e.g. G400 demo can be run on other matrox (later than G400) via text in the cfg, or coral demo can be run via "3danalyzr patch".

Hello. I've a new GeForce RTX 4090. 😁

I tried to use dgVoodoo2 for add Radeon HD 4800 Froblins and for change VRAM to 512MB and to run this demo... but I got in SushiLog.txt file:

dgVoodoo2 implements up to Direct3D 9.0c, per the docs here:
http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/
http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/ReadmeDirectX/
In other words, dgVoodo2 may require Direct3D 11 to work properly, but what it implements is Direct3D 9.0.c-and-older. Think of it as a converter that converrts Direct3D 9.0c-and-older calls to Direct3D 11 calls.

Hardware tessellation is a Direct3D 11 feature. Also, AMD apparently has implemented a custom API extension on top of Direct3D 9/10/10.1 that supports hardware tesselation (but the way they do it is incompatible with Direct3D 11 hardware tesselation at the hardware level):
https://tsedrive.wordpress.com/2010/01/30/why … 1-tessellation/

But in any case, dgVoodoo2 implements neitheir Direct3D 11 nor AMD's custom API extensions on top of Direct3D 9/10/10.1.

Have you tried running your software without dgVoodoo2? It's not wise to run any software that supports Direct3D 10 (or higher) using dgVoodoo2.

Note: The ATI Radeon X1800 is a DirectX 9.0c card, and doesn't implement any custom API extensions, so any software that targets a Radeon X1800 will run on dgVoodoo2.

Set your card as the ATI Radeon card from the dgVoodoo2 panel.

Still, if dgVooodoo2 can't do hardware tessellation (either Direct3D 11 or AMD's custom API extensions), it most likely won't work, because hardware tesselation seems like a hard requirement for that software.

Now that I am thinking of it, the software might not even run natively either on a Nvidia card if it requires AMD's custom API extensions and doesn't support the Direct3D 11 hardware tesselation , or if it checks for the presence of a Radeon card. Still worth a shot, though.

If neither dgVoodoo2 (with ATI Radeon card set in the dgVoodoo2 panel) nor running it natively works, then the only options are:

1) Fake the name of the card somehow

2) If it requires AMD's custom API extensions specifically, then find a software implementation of those API extensions (good luck).

This is the problem with demos btw, they sometimes either check for the presence of a specific card or require custom (aka non-standard) API extensions or both and the only real way to run them is on the hardware they were intended for.

I choose "ATi Radeon 8500" in "Videocard" of "DirectX" separator on dgVoodoo2!??????? But I need D3D11.dll or D3D10_1.dll (not Microsoft but yes modded to dgVoodoo v2.xx.x by Dégé)

Froblins.... and I was reading it as Dolphin, and the next post about DX9 confused me. It's DX10.1 so of course dgVoodoo2 won't work.

I didn't find the demo to download, but I know it exists. Links I tried appear to be dead. Could you help with getting that in some way?

I tried Froblins now, it doesn't work on any of my Nvidia HW. Probably it uses some exclusive AMD checks that Nvidia can't reproduce.

From your next post it appears you have found it eventually, but in case you haven't, check the link for "ATI/AMD Radeon demos, part 2 (Radeon HD 3000 to Radeon HD 7000)" in a previous post of mine on this very page.

Seriously folks, try to use Wayback Machine before you start looking all around the interwebs for a file. This is especially true for Windows exes which are often not signed (and only Wayback Machine is guaranteed to host an original unaltered copy).

Yes, from the logs it appears the software requires both DX10.1 and hardware tessellation. DirectX10.1 doesn't do hardware tessellation (you need DirectX11 for that), so we can conclude it most likely uses AMD's custom API extension for hardware tessellation (see previous post of mine in this page for sources that indicate such an extension actually exists).

So:
- This software cannot work using dgVoodoo2
- It doesn't run natively on Nvidia, you can try faking the GPU name in Windows and it might run (long shot, maybe if it was updated to also support DirectX11), or you have to find software that emulates AMD's custom API extension for tessellation (good luck with that).

So, in practical terms, either run it on original AMD hardware or find a YouTube video of the demo and call it a day, I guess.
