I have just discovered the Adobe PS driver for Windows. That combined with a PDD file from www.linuxprinting.org is giving me very good results. Nice! 😎

After more thorough testing, I have found out that the Brother's Generic PCL5e driver prints even better, even if it's limited to 600x600dpi.

Another one to try (for PCL6 capable printers) is the Laserjet 2100 one. It has a very beautiful 16x16 interpolation dithering rastering method.
