How about a rescaler feature, where the output resolution will be forced e.g. to the current desktop resolution, but the game will be free to render in any resolution it wants, dgVoodoo doing the rescaling?

This could fix some issues with equipment doing poorly with non-native resolutions, e.g. low quality scaling or wrong aspect ratio, while keeping the originally intended resolution from the game's perspective.
