I've been running a few old DOS demos and one that I can't get working with the ultrasound is Second Reality, works fine with the sound blaster card also installed but sounds naff.

When I select the ultrasound it just reports failed to initialise the selected sound card. I assume its looking for the Ultrasound on a specific address or IRQ, any suggestions?

Current the card is set to address 240, IRQs and DMAs are all 7. Its an Ultrasound Max 2.1.

Tired removing the sound blaster along with all mention of it in autoexec.bat and config.sys, no difference.

Both Second Reality and Unreal demos don't work with the Gravis. Worth noting that Duke 3D also won't produce any sounds from it.

Everything else works fine and I can't see any conflicts.

It was built for GUS. works fine for me, panic, unreal, 2nd reality, fishtro, etc. all of them work fine on my gus.

Something else must be going on. I wonder if its memory is detected ok or not.

IRQ7 is free. I've run multiple other demos with the GUS without issue.

I might pull the sound blaster card just on the off chance its only seeing that.

Can you run the ultrasound memory test utility? Should be part of the drivers, on my system its called "gusdram.com".

Edit: Can you try running Crystal Dreams 2 by Triton? Does that one work?
