I have Roland interface clone card operating on 330hz confirmed to function fine with Dos games. Meanwhile, I have Microsoft Windows Sound System 2.0 working with the genuine MS made 1992 sound card.

Long story short, the sierra Windows install chooses the opl3 card for 'extended midi' instead of the interface card (330hz). I know how to fix this with sierra's DOS install, but for Windows, how do I select sound?

I'm not sure at this one, but I assume it uses the MIDI Mapper. Try choosing another device (SB16 MIDI, MPU401, etc). If MPU-401 isn't available,
you can install it via the driver icon in Control Panel. "Roland MPU-401" and "Roland LAPC1" (typo, that should be LAPC-I)
are part of any copy of Windows 3.1x.

Interesting... I think you found the problem, and the sound test detected it. But Kq7 is not quite using it right. I'll do things like reinstall, and get back to vogons in time.

Thank you
