Has anyone had any luck running Hardball 6 under Windows XP? Or for that matter, Windows 7/10 (I've read a few sparse messages on the internet with the same problem under those versions of Windows as well)?

I've played Hardball 5 for DOS for eons now, and recently bought Hardball 6. The game installs and starts just fine, but when you actually start a new game (OR click on the "Graphics" options within the game) the game locks up, requiring a CTRL+ALT+DEL. I've tried all of the various Windows XP compatibility mode options, but no luck.

Any ideas?

This game needs the EmulateDirectDrawSync ACT fix.
Install the attached *.sdb file (with sdbinst) then try again.
Tested with WinXpSp3.

Sorry for bumping my old thread, but what do I need to import the SDB for Windows 10? I recently got a new PC that is running Windows 10 <UUGGHH!>, and the old Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit v2.6 doesn't work under that OS. I'm assuming there is a newer version of the ACT for W10? Googling (as usual) got me nowhere.

I answered my own question. I downloaded the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hard … ted/adk-install , and custom installed only the 32-bit and 64-bit "Compatibility Administrator" utilities. They are the same thing as the older Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit, and after installing the SDB, HB6 is now functioning under W10 😀

Another question though: When attempting to select the 3D Accelerator graphics option the game says that my video card doesn't have enough video RAM. Is there any SDB that can be installed that would allow the use of 3D accelerated graphics in the game?
