Hello,
i tried to setup Bochs DOS machine.

Im able to install and make DOS 7.1 booting , but otherwise whole experience is not good. Its someone else able to setup really something useful with Bochs?

My main problems:
1) I read documentations - but i have still problem to set up proper CPU speed, i have problem with slow response time with Filewizzard Filemanager, but in comparsion Doom is running way to faster or slow.
When have to setup some Cmos timer emulation, to make Dos menu timeout working.
2) Not working Sound blaster 16 emulation, i documentation is there is support of it, but i never where able to make it working in DOS. I dunno if i should use Creative SB16 drivers or not.. also sb16ctrl.exe is freezing for me when i use it virtualmachine.

Im old goal oriented goatman, i care about facts and freedom, not about egos+prejudices. Hoarding=sickness. If you want respect, gain it by your behavior. I hate stupid SW limits, SW=virtual world, everything should be possible if you have enough raw HW.

ruthan, you posted in the wrong forum - Marvin -> Software. This should have been posted in PC Emulation. Marvin -> Software is only for real software on real retro PCs.

Bochs is a pure interpreter-based emulator. It serves the purposes for its intended audience, but surely not for people who intend to play ancient PC games with emulation on modern systems.

I checked project page and wikipage, there is not really too much information about project. I thing that first saw is on Android, where it was advertised as way to run Linux and Windows, probably someone tried to make quick buck from porting. Its like Limbo QEMU android emulator, just ported but half working at best from user experience.

Hope never dying, so i tried it, you never know.
BTW on wikipedia i have found really interesting thing. Emulated HW - 3dfx Interactive Voodoo Banshee / Voodoo3

I wonder why would someone mess with 3dfx if not for gaming..
