The version on Steam, for now, is the best version. It has "modern" control options. The original game was amazing at the time but the control scheme is a huge mess.
There will soon be a full remake of the game released, though. Well, "soon". It can still take a year or even two. It's rather faithful to the original but with modern touches in a complete new engine and with all art assets redone and the rough edges smoothened.
