Make a image of the drive with ghost. If you want to redo the install boot the computer with a boot disk and use ghost to reimage the drive.

I second the idea of creating an image of the system with the drivers installed, and restoring it as needed. It's certainly the easiest solution.

However, if you actually want to automate a Windows 98 install, that is possible as well. For that, you need to create an answer file which Windows will use during the installation procedure. Phil has a video showcasing this.

Yes, it's possible. Search for "msbatch.inf". There's also a GUI tool to customize its settings (Batch 98 Automated Setup Utility from the Win98 resource kit).

You can even slipstream updates directly onto the CD Win9x Quick Slipstreaming Utility just by copying the deflated files directly in the root directory of the CD.

Yes I thought about doing something like this, but the problem is that a few times when I did something like this, Windows was not able to boot or install all drivers correctly (I had to boot in safe mode, delete all devices, in then reboot, force hardware detection, and sometimes not all hardware worked like a fresh install directly from cd)

I've seen some "pirate" editions of windows 98, like Win98TE and Win98 Russian, they have been modified a lot, and something fun was created, but I think the author had to modify each of the cab files.

I'm going to study about this tool on the windows cd, when I can do what I want, I'll upload the image to archive.org for everyone to test and use

I previously used 98lite Preview and it worked decently.

The only problem would be the compatibility with some later programs due to some Windows 98 DLLs being renamed such as SHELL32.DLL to SHELL32.W98 and uses the ones from Windows 95 as replacement.
