Set active partion on the second drive

When I get next one MFM drive then using XTIDE-CF I make a backup of content then wipe drive to put fresh DOS + utils.

So I initialize disk, create partition and always the same problem - can't set active partition as system is already booted from the first drive (XTCF).
How to bypass? Without booting from floppy.

You have to use something like Norton Diskedit or a sector editor, or maybe DEBUG if you are a 1337 haxx0r...

Load up sector 0 (MBR) and then change the byte at offset $1BE from 0 to $80 to make the first partition 'active'
