I have an AWE64 Gold in a Windows 98 SE PC, but when running Skyroads through direct DOS mode, I get no music whatsoever, only sound effects. Skyroads doesn't come with a Setup program, so I don't really know what else to do.

Anyone else who has run into this issue before?

Is Skyroads the only game that has this problem?

Is BLASTER environment variable set?

Other than AWEUTIL, did you also run CTCU/CTCM?

I'm really not that good with the technicals, but this is what my autoexec looks like:

SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P300 T6
mode con codepage prepare=((850) C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\ega.cpi)
mode con codepage select=850
keyb us,,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\keyboard.sys
SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET CTCM=C:\CTCM
C:\CTCM\CTCM.EXE
C:\SB16\AWEUTIL.COM /S
C:\SB16\MIXERSET.EXE /P /Q

Your autoexec file seems proper...

I would double-check that the music is not muted (by running MIXERSET without arguments - it will open a GUI), and again, check other games that have FM music, if possible.

What do CTCM and AWEUTIL print when you run them? Any errors?

No errors on either of those.

I think I know what the problem was. In mixerset, the boxes for "Line" were unticked in the Output section. Since that's what my speakers hook up to, it makes sense those need to be enabled.

What I don't understand is why this only gave a problem with Skyroads. Jazz Jackrabbit for example played the music just fine after running setup.

Oh well, it works now. Thanks guys.
