Hi,

I'm looking for HP Library and Tape Tools V3.5 or a version of similar vintage that is able to run on Windows 98 and the likes.
I've been searching for quite some time now but I can't seem to find something.

Maybe someone on the forum can point me in the right direction?

Greetings

I crawled through the deepest depths of the internet... no dungeon was too deep...

just kidding 😁

Well no also winworldpc doesn't have anything.
Archive.org, old HP FTP Site mirrors, oldversion.org, heck even the dreaded software informer website I tried 😁

I found the tools for the HP surestore, which would equate to a Version 2 or something, but that appears to be a bit too old even.
I think 3 or 3.5 should be the right one.

I was confusing tape tools with ftape sorry. I went through a situation where I needed (wanted) to get data off my 30 year old tapes and couldn't. I think I ended up using HP Backup or similar, can't find the software atm.

Hi
no worries.
I was doing a bit of research online and apparently everyone who does serious tape handling uses either linux or unix.
So I guess I'll go with that as well.
Also seems to be a lot easier just using the mt and dd commands with the drives than looking around for proprietary windows software that is incompatible with everything 😁

I mean I just went through this a year+ ago. I found a bunch of QIC80 tapes in my stash, sent them out to a company to get the data off them. When they got back, I was finally able to get a complete Windows system up and running with a working tape drive and software.
