Hello vogons,
today I tried to play some mod files on my Commodore PC-10III, which runs on an AMD 8088 cpu and is equipped with 512k of ram. I can only use it in hercules mode or 80 column color mode. The monochrome mode is not supported by my cga monitor. Also it is running DOS 3.30 and I store all the files on an XT IDE harddrive, so it should be plenty fast enough.
I have it running with a SoundBlaster 2.0 and there is also sound in games like lemmings, but i can't seem to get it to work with a mod player.
I tried Galaxy Player (a CGA Modded version) but it just does nothing.

And I also tried Mod Master XT from a fellow forum member:
Mod Master XT 1.0 Released : Play .MOD, .XM and .VGM on a 8088 4MHz
But this one only stutters a lot, even at 16kHz mono.
I tried setting the cpu clock speed to 4,77MHz, 7,5 MHz and also 10 MHz which improves the stutter frequency but not the situation in general.
Both mod players are very unresponsive and don't work at all.
I've seen Galaxy Player run for instance on youtube by vwestlife on his tandy 1000sl and it behaves in a completely different manner.
Am I overlooking something?
I'm a youngster, so I don't really know that mouch about the caveats of the hardware I'm dealing with.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I have also tried now:
- using ModML which is meant for XT systems instead of the regular version
- installed a 8087 coprocessor
- installed jill of the jungle since it is one of the few games that runs on XT and can do Soundblaster to confirm that my soundblaster indeed works perfectly fine in that machine
