I have quite a few PC games on my Windows 98 PC that use DirectX, one of which is Math Blaster Ages 9-12. The problem though is that when I start the game and go into a mode, most of the sound effects do not play and even the ones that do cut out immediately after it plays. If I exit the program and try to run another DirectX game like G-NOME or Astro Rock, it will not start. I also can not get into the advanced audio properties as it gives me one of those stupid "this program has encountered" errors referring to rundll32.
I have already tried the following:
1. Reinstalling DirectX
2. Reinstalling Windows 98 SE via System Recovery
3. Removing DSOUND.DLL with another version
4. Reinstalling the program
I have a soundblaster live card (CT4780), 128 MB of SDRAM, Windows 98 SE, and I'm running this on a Gateway Pro V933. I have basically tried every trick in the book I can think of.
