I have a sb live ct4760 specifically. I found some pure dos drivers but cant install in puredos. I'm using the newest version of freedos if that matters.

Try installing from the Install CD for the CT4760. Here is a link to the ISO on vogonsdrivers:

can I run it in dos?
Nope, installer won't work from DOS.
Try the attached DOS Live drivers. Look at the readme and the sbeset text files for information on setting it up.
I'm not sure if you can even set it up on a DOS only machine.. I think it will work, but you have to manually set up the addresses, IRQ, DMA, etc. with SBESET
You also need the 2MG4.ECW waveset file for MIDI music playback.
There is also another separate text file I have attached.
I can verify that my Soundblaster Live! SB0060 works in FreeDOS.
What my lines look like in the AUTOEXEC.BAT:
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E MODE:0
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P330 T6 ( I am using IRQ 7 )
SET CTSYN=C:\LIVEDOS
C:\LIVEDOS\SBEINIT.COM
Wolf3D and Doom work fine. I'm still testing games with this setup.
Duke Nukem 3D works in Soundblaster or AWE32 settings. General MIDI music is working.
