Hi guys, tryen to build me a DOS pc, General MIDI is all new for me.
I have a SB AWE32, SB32 and SB AWE64, whitch card will emulate best general midi music in DOS games?
Link to a video of my cards: https://youtu.be/OX4J3y7ogPQ

I also have a hard time choosing between General Midi and AWE32 options, think they sound great in there own way, what do you prefer?

Thank you 😀

What is the exact model of your AWE32 card?

Use CT2760 hands down. Non-PnP, true OPL3, SIMM upgradable.

The 2760 is going to have the best compatibility due to it having real OPL3 and being non-PnP.

You can put up to 2x 16MB SIMMS in any of the AWE32 or SB32 cards for a total useable 28MB RAM for loading soundfonts.

The 3620 and AWE64 will have a bit cleaner output, but the 2760 is going to be better overall.

If its just General Midi, then the OPL chip (aka Adlib) doesn't matter.
And really you want an external Midi device like Roland, Yamaha, Dream Blaster, etc or something emulated for cheap

for those 2 reasons the AWE64 is the better option (cleaner output, no hanging note bug)

The upgraded ram only matters if your manually loading sound fonts, that said even though I never use custom soundfonts I still upgraded mine 😉
