FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ADVANCED GRAVIS AND HOWLING DOG SYSTEMS SIGN LICENSING AGREEMENT

Advanced Gravis Computer Technology Ltd. and Howling Dog Systems

PC hardware. The world-wide, non-exclusive licensing agreement
extends to the end of 1993.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gravis will license Power Chords
for Windows and a collection of MIDI songs for inclusion in the
retail versions of the Gravis UltraSound sound card. The bundle
will give users the ability to easily play, edit and compose MIDI
music for personal, business, or educational purposes using a
familiar guitar interface and powerful drum kit.

"A large percentage of our sound card customers are Windows users
anxious to experiment with music composition," Grant Russell,
Advanced Gravis president. "These customers are going to find our
CD-quality sound and Howling Dog's revolutionary software hard to
beat, especially at the price."

quality musical instruments reproduction. It features Ad Lib(tm)
and Sound Blaster(tm) compatibility and supports Windows Multimedia
Extensions. The suggested retail of the UltraSound bundle is
$199.95 and will began shipping in January 1993.

And PR message from TB:
Source: http://web.archive.org/web/199706140918 ... 051697.htm
05/16/97

Dear Turtle Beach / Voyetra Customers…
As part of our ongoing effort to keep you informed of our activities, I would like to elaborate on some of our latest developments:

Pinnacle Project Studio and Digital Orchestrator Version 3.0
We have just announced a new package called Pinnacle Project Studio, which uses the Pinnacle sound card as the core of a turnkey production system for home audio producers and musicians. This product is currently being advertised in several music magazines and will soon be available in most major music retailers for a suggested retail price of $599. It includes a Pinnacle sound card with the following enhancements:

S/PDIF interface card (same as the one on Pinnacle with Digital I/O)
(New product) S/PDIF bracket with RCA connectors
(New product) Kurzweil daughter card with global FX processor, 4MB compressed GM sample Set, 97db SNR and 20 bit audio. Note that this card uses the HOMAC chipset, not the MASS[ies] chipset used on the Pinnacle main synth. It sounds great and is super quiet.
(New product) Training video for setting up and using the Project Studio (35 min)
(New product) Digital Orchestrator Plus version 3.0 with many new features such as graphic controller editing, additional transforms and more!
(New product) Pinnacle Patch Librarian and Patch Library for Win95 (the editor will be ready by July and provided free to all PPS owners.)
Voyetra software suite, including AudioStation 2, mixer, and more.
We also realize that some current MultiSound Pinnacle and Fiji users may wish to upgrade their products with some of the new features of the PPS. Prices for these options are as follows (prices do not include postage and handling):

S/PDIF interface with S/PDIF RCA bracket: $79.95
S/PDIF RCA Bracket alone: $9.95
PPS training Video: $9.95
Kurzweil daughter board synthesizer: $99.95
Digital Orchestrator Plus 3.0 upgrade: $79.95
AudioStation, Patch Librarian, and other Project Studio software: Free to Pinnacle owners.
Pinnacle Project Studio Upgrade Pack (items 1 - 6) $199.95.
Upgrade pack less S/PDIF card (items 2 - 6): $129.95.
Please note that these prices do not include postage. For more details and ordering information, send an e-mail to sales@tbeach.com or call our customer support lines. These upgrades will also be available via our international distributors.

New Patch Librarian and Mixer
The new Pinnacle Patch Librarian with a sample patch library is now posted on our web site along with a new mixer for the Pinnacle and Fiji. These may be downloaded free of charge.

Please note that the mixer will only work on the Pinnacle/Fiji and the Librarian will only work on the Pinnacle. Also, note that the Librarian is a 32 bit Win95 program and will not run in Win31. We are scheduled to have the 32 bit Patch Editor ready by July and will keep you posted on our progress.

You will need to install the version 3.0 of the Pinnacle drivers in order to install the librarian.

Pinnacle Maintenance Kit
I am pleased to announce that we have rectified the lock up problem reported on some Rev D Pinnacles. For those of you who missed my last message, this refers to random PC system lock ups when playing back or recording digital audio on some versions of our Pinnacle sound cards. We have corrected the problem by reprogramming a PROM that can be easily replaced without returning the card to us. The PROM will be provided as part of the Pinnacle maintenance kit, which includes the following items:

New PROM version 1.4 to correct the lockup problem
New EPROM version 1.04 to upgrade the Kurzweil synthesizer operating system with additional
FX algorithms, faster sample downloading and several other enhancements.
New Driver version 3.0 to work with the new PROMs (can also be downloaded from our web site www:/tbeach.com).
This maintenance kit will be provided free of charge to all Pinnacle customers who request it. The easiest and quickest way to order this kit is to e-mail pinnacle@tbeach.com with your Name, Address, Phone, and Pinnacle Board Revision. International customers may contact the local Turtle Beach distributor for this free kit. Note that if you have a Rev C board, you do not need the 1.4 PROM, as this board does not have the lockup problems. In your e-mail, please state that you need only the Kurzweil EPROM and the drivers.

New Fiji Drivers / NT drivers
We have posted new Fiji drivers to the web site along with new NT 4.0 drivers for Pinnacle and Fiji. The NT drivers are in beta format, so please be sure to report any problems to us with details on how to reproduce them using this online form.

Turtle Beach Web Site Confusion
Some customers have inadvertently navigated to a URL called http://www.turtlebeach.com, which is not the Turtle Beach Systems web site. Messages left with the webmaster at that site have not reached us because they will not forward the messages to us. As such, customers may think we are ignoring them, when in fact we never received the message. Please note that our URL names are http://www.tbeach.com or http://www.voyetra.com.

Tech Support Improvements
We've added to our staff of technical support personnel, and the larger staff has allowed us to significantly reduce the customer hold time when calling for support. This is a never-ending battle, but we are committed to servicing our customers in an efficient and courteous manner.

We invite your input
We are firmly committed to making Voyetra/TBS the world's leading PC sound hardware and software company. To accomplish this, we need the help of our customer base. Please let us know what products you would like to see us manufacture and what problems you would like us to correct with existing products. Although I can't promise we will act on every suggestion, I can assure you that we will consider all suggestions carefully and wherever possible, we'll let you know what can and can't be done. We want to work together with you to create great products that meet your needs. We have set up a suggestions box on our web site for this purpose, so please feel free to use it.

We very much look forward to your input and again, thanks for your support!

Best regards,

Carmine J. Bonanno, president/CEO

I'm not really keen on this topic idea, not sure why yet, just gut reaction, but I'll let it ride for now I guess...

Maybe this would fit more in a history subforum? I think the posts would be more interesting if they were citations of the interesting bits, with a link to the full text.

I have to agree with root42 that the citation style is lacking. How about if you reserve the first posting for citations only (no quotes). A good orientation would be to check common citation style templates from scientific magazines using the standard abbreviations that are also included in all standard citation programs like Jabref or Endnote.
Or just try JabRef enter all required fields and generate a citation in a given style.
