I have been looking for hours all over the web for a working driver for this card. Soundcard-drivers.com just downloads some drivereasy software and it seem the download link for an archive is down. Would anyone have an easy download for this?
According to https://ilovepa.ws/2017/06/08/aztech-sound-cards/ your I38-MMSN842 was made for Packard Bell and uses an AZT2316R .

Short of finding original Packard Bell drivers, your best bet would be to use drivers meant for a card using the same chipset (AZT2316R) and that looks as similar as possible to your card . Drivers can be found here http://vogonsdrivers.com/index.php?catid=3

Cant seem to find the one you mentioned in the list. I do see a zip file containing many drivers I believe

Not sure if I installed it wrong, but so far it is not working. Device manager just says it's a 16 bit audio device
I bet you can get the specific driver off of one of the Packard Bell Master Restore CDs.
Trick is finding out which model that card originally came in and then finding the correct Master CD for that system and then finding the driver on the Master CD ISO.
Most of the ISOs are available on archive.org
Is your card the one with the modem or without the modem?

I used my master CD, but it doesn't have any drivers, only programs

OK here are some Packard Bell audio drivers that seem to include support for the AZT2316 .
I zeroed out the genmidi.wsl file so I could fit the file to the post . You should not need the file as there is no wavetable functionality on your card .
I took the folder out of https://archive.org/details/PackardBellMasterCD
It that does not work . You will likely have to go through https://archive.org/details/windows95mastercd and find the right one for your hardware .

I have a Packard Bell card with the same chipset, but a slightly different ID (24 instead of 42), but maybe these drivers work:
However, it worked just fine in Windows with built-in 2316 drivers. My card was recognized with built-in Windows drivers as a 'Sound Galaxy Washington 16', and the 'Aztech 2316 Compatible Legacy Audio (WDM)' drivers worked as well.

In Packard Bell-speak that's a Rocky II sound card. I have one too. Not currently in use, but I've used it under DOS, Linux and Win98SE in the past:
DOS: used the same drivers as for the MMSN-824 (also 2316 chipset, AFAIK only difference between 2316A on the 824 and 2316R on the 842 is that the R is Reduced Size due to process shrink)
Linux: 'it just worked' with the snd-azt2320 kernel module (also handles azt2316)
Win98SE: worked with out-of-the-box drivers as Oetker indicated.
The card worked fine in windows 95 with built in drivers, but in 98 it would work, only being able to get music to work in dos games and not sfx

That might be because you installed the WDM drivers.
Ok it appears that the driver works, except the audio repeats itself. If I click the volume, the noise will play over and over for some time
I don't think the autoexec is supposed to have this stuff
That volset line obviously does not work and can be removed .
Which driver ended up working ?
Does it work under DOS ?
If sound repeats itself, it is probably a resource conflict . What resources does the sound card use in device manager ?
