Sounds like Crystal CS4110 is not the same thing as Dream GMS931600N. Couple of instruments are totally wrong and some of them just sound weird. Most of the instruments are correct. Drum 53 "Ride bell" has wrong start and end points what sounds annoying. Then drums 54 and 56 just sounds like a clip from random data array.

I didn't expect this because PCM ROM has Dream product info in the first bytes. I haven't figured out how instruments are mapped in firmware ROM, but study continues...

Finally solved the case with wrong instrument/offsets with CS4110 and Terratec firmware. I dumped GMS1600N and GMS1601N mask ROMs and compared with CS4110 and CS4111.

CS4110 is mostly the same as GMS1600N, but somewhere around dozen of instument offsets are slightly different and some even placed differently.
CS4111 and GMS1601N are exact match.

I had to order new programmer that supports 16Mbit SOP. In the synth board WE pin must be pulled high when replacing mask ROM with EEPROM.

Although this was somewhat expensive study, I'm pleased with the result. My wavetable board is now practically the same as synth on Terratec Maestro 32/96 and my favourite tracks sound perfect.

Hello, nice work here!

I have eleven instrumental tracks (two are very short, the rest are about two to five minutes) which were created using instruments on this chip using a Reveal SC500 card back in 1996. I am interested in having you record the full tracks (hopefully your card is full duplex so there is no signal loss or distortion when recording) at 44k 16bit stereo resolution (WAV or FLAC). Please email douglasricketts@outlook.com if you still have this one working- Thanks!
