The Pro Audio Spectrum 16 I have has a SCSI port that I also had the CD drive but from the PAS16 wiki it says the SCSI port can run other devices so I'm hoping to add about 5 SCSI hard drives on one cable to it if you guys know if this is possible, it won't be a boot drive it will just be for dos games or should an ISA SCSI card be better. It will be for a 486dx2 66mhz overdrive system.

Why do you say that? Isn't it just a run-of-the-mill SCSI controller that shacked up with a sound card?

Either way, ISA SCSI cards aren't known for their lightning throughput either. Give it a try. I've got a PC with a PAS16 installed as well. I'm waiting on a SCSI ZIP drive to show up in the mail, which will connect to that interface, and then the ribbon cable continues on to an ISA slot-mounted HD50 interface adapter for external devices. I'm not aware of any reason why it wouldn't support the usual 7 devices on a bus.

No idea what SCSI chip they used, but it probably can't do DMA or anything else that helps not burdening the CPU.

Note that there's no SCSI BIOS on the card, so no hard disk you connect will show up in DOS. Unless you run Win9x, I'd rather get a dedicated SCSI controller card.

I'll connect a single hard drive soon for testing without a 9x driver I haven't got around to it yet and deSammler or anyone do you know how to have a SCSI hard drive available in dos without 9x installed

You may need to use a diff scsi driver (not TSLCDR), read that some have used ASPIMED.SYS or MAMV1.SYS for better CDrom. Jazz drive, etc support. If you try MAMV1.SYS you also need ASPICD.SYS

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. https://archive.org/details/@horun

You need SCSI Works 1.3. Here are the download links I used:

https://storage.microsemi.com/en-us/speed/obs … csiwks1_exe.php
https://storage.microsemi.com/en-us/speed/obs … csiwks2_exe.php

I think Disk 1 had the MAMV1.SYS file. I loaded MVSOUND.SYS as usual to initialize the card, then MAMV1.SYS to provide an ASPI layer, then take your pick with either Adaptec's ASPIDISK.SYS or the Trantor equivalent (SDISK or TSDISK or something like that.) My SCSI ZIP drive showed up as a normal SCSI removable disk under DOS, just like it does on my other SCSI hosts using Adaptec 2940s and the ASPIxDOS.SYS + ASPIDISK.SYS combo.
