Just saw this thread, has anyone ever managed to get WSS to work on ES1688F cards? If so, any help doing so 😀?

I believe ESS cards use their own protocol for 16 bit audio and not WSS.

The datasheet says they are WSS compatible, though I never tried this as I don't use WSS at all..

Yeah, I'm not sure what they mean by that. MPXPlay certainly doesn't do WSS on my 1869 card. Windows drivers?

Neither DOS nor Windows drivers seem to initialize WSS. I was thinking that maybe there was a different set of drivers for WSS, since it is indeed referenced in the datasheet. Dionb also listed it as a feature earlier.

As I already stated: I don't trust that datasheet about WSS support, as the datasheet contradicts itself - with DAC/ADC only up to 44.1 kHz, there's no way to be WSS-compatible.

There's that and the fact that nowhere does it mention how to set WSS base address, IRQ or DMA ; that info is only there for Sound Blaster functionality .
